Re: SB 1195 Repeal

Dear Representative:

Shortly after the 1997 Legislative Session ended, I was discussing SB1195 – Licensed Pastoral Counselor with a friend and we decided to ask the Attorney General for an opinion of that legislation.

Although the Attorney General’s office could see no constitutional problem with SB 1195, my concern with it lingered. During the session I had asked several other legislators about the bill and received assurances that it was alright. I respected my colleagues and at the time accepted their comments.

Since passage of SB1195 some things have come about that again raise concerns about this legislation. I will be supporting legislation to repeal SB 1195 in the next session and would urge your serious consideration of the repeal measure when it comes before you.

Sincerely,

Robert Schaefer
Idaho State Representative
